This CCTV technical website privacy policy explains the information used to serve pages, operate browser tools, answer voluntary messages, measure site usage through Google Analytics 4 with applicable privacy controls, and serve Google advertising after the required review.

Information used to serve and protect the site

These records support availability, debugging, security, rate limiting, and incident review. Retention and access should be limited to the operational need and the responsible provider's documented terms.
WestC does not ask readers to submit passwords, private network inventories, identifiable video, customer names, or confidential facility details. Do not include that information in a voluntary email.
Browser calculators and tools
The current storage, bandwidth, PoE, cost, retention, and field-of-view calculators process entered values in the browser to display an estimate. They are not a CCTV feed, evidence repository, or site-survey service. A browser tool may still create ordinary page-delivery or consent records; do not enter personal or confidential data into a field that does not require it.
Any future upload, analytics, account, or third-party integration must be documented here before it is enabled, including its purpose, provider, data path, retention, and deletion or withdrawal process.
Google Analytics 4
The production site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure aggregate page views and navigation. The Google tag can process page path, page title, referrer, browser and device signals, and interaction events so WestC can understand which technical guides are being used. GA4 may use first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish users and sessions.
The site code does not intentionally send user IDs, passwords, contact-message contents, identifiable CCTV footage, or private network inventories to Google Analytics. Google Analytics settings, browser controls, and any applicable consent or opt-out mechanism govern whether measurement data is collected for a visitor. See Google's current data safeguards before changing measurement or advertising settings.
AdSense, cookies, and third-party technologies
After activation, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may place and read cookies or use web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers when ad tags request, measure, protect, or personalize advertising. Google may use these technologies to serve, measure, limit invalid activity, and tailor ads according to the user's consent, device settings, regional rules, and available controls. Third parties may also place or read cookies as a result of ad serving on this site.
The actual production deployment must link the current Google disclosure and maintain a clear notice about Google products and services. WestC does not intentionally pass contact messages, credentials, or identifiable CCTV footage to Google for advertising personalization.
Consent and privacy choices
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the production site must use the selected consent management configuration when required for Google Analytics measurement or Google advertising, including the applicable Google-certified CMP and IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework integration. Where consent is required, the relevant tag should not be requested until the choice is available. The consent interface must offer clear choices and a way to revisit or withdraw them after the first decision.
The live site will provide its current privacy-choice link or control in the page footer or consent interface. If a user withdraws consent, the site must honor the resulting analytics and advertising state according to the configured Google and legal requirements. Other jurisdictions may provide additional privacy, access, deletion, objection, or opt-out rights; contact WestC to request review.
Contact messages, retention, and updates
If a reader emails WestC, the message and supplied contact details are used to respond, investigate a correction, review a source or image-rights concern, or improve a calculator or guide. Messages should be retained only as long as needed for the response, accountability, dispute handling, or legal obligation, with access limited to the responsible operator and service providers.
This page should be updated when the production domain, advertising vendors, consent mechanism, analytics, technical logging, or rights process changes. The modified date in the page metadata is the review signal; material changes should also be recorded through the corrections process.
