Lens and Image Sensor: Why the Same Focal Length Changes the Camera View

Choose the optical relationship, not an isolated mm

Record the observed condition, date, device or configuration reference, reviewer, unresolved limitation, and next action. A repeatable acceptance record is more useful than a generic promise that a camera, recorder, service, or analytic will work in every scene.

Does the same focal length give the same field of view on every camera?
No. Sensor dimensions and image mode affect the view, and installation distance, crop, aspect ratio, and lens behavior also matter. Compare the actual camera and lens combination.
Is a wider security camera lens always better?
A wider lens can provide context but may reduce target size and detail at distance. A narrower lens can focus detail but reduce surrounding coverage. Choose from the scene task and test the result.
